Often it seems we are raving about one Dubai gourmet restaurant or another. But if you are looking for a very special treat, you might just want to store your suitcase and take a trip over to the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Resort and Spa instead.
For a friends recent 50th birthday, we organized a girls night out at the Pepper Restaurant there. I knew it would be special, but didn’t realize what a gourmet treat it would be. The appetizers were each artistically presented. We tried the Beet Root Salad, which came with sprinkled with chocolate soil and drizzled with a lemon infused dressing. It was superb. I hadn’t realized what the chocolate soil was, but the fresh ground coco added a hint of bitter sweet chocolate flavor that really went well with the lemon drizzle. Beet root is not that flavorful, so this, along with a few dollops of goat cheese, really worked well together.
Others tried the asparagus salad, pumpkin soup and crab duo… the appetizers themselves were so well received. And they were just appetizers. Not large portions, they wouldn’t be good to share, not even in the diet conscious ladies who lunch crowd. We all enjoyed our own!
For the entrées, some of us splurged, well it was an indulgent night anyway, and we had the surf and turf Not just any surf and turf, this had three choices of each, and we chose the small lobster tail, and a wagyu beef rump. The meat was done very rare, as requested, it was perfect. Others tried the veal, the duck and of course, the Wagyu sirloin steak. No complaints there either.
Entrees were ala carte, so we also ordered some sides, spinach, truffle mashed potatoes and so on. All served in small pots, which were easy to pass around and share.
Topping the dinner off was a chocolate lovers best indulgence….the chocolate mouse cake. A fabulous evening out, where we had great ambiance, gourmet meal and excellent service. Next time, you can stay home and enjoy an evening out locally.
