For all British new comers to Kuwait, The British Ladies Society (BLS) awaits you.
Any woman aged 18 and over, who holds a British passport, whose husband, parent holds a British passport or who holds a passport of those countries whose affairs are presently represented by the British Embassy in Kuwait are welcome to join and become a member of The British Ladies Society for a minimum annual fee. Those of you without a British passport are also welcome to join and can become an associate member. The BLS gives you the opportunity to meet interesting people at organised coffee mornings, social dinners, excursions and other wonderful events. It also offers a great library so if you looking for a good read, you are sure to find it there.
The new President of the BLS is Viv Anthony who puts her heart and soul into the Society. Viv arrived in Kuwait five and a half years ago with her husband Eric who is an Aviation Engineer. Viv joined the BLS when she first arrived in order to meet people and have the opportunity of “getting out and about in Kuwait”. Over time Viv found herself involved in organising the activities and became Vice Chair. Recently Avril (Chair) left and Viv has now stepped into this new role.
After meeting and chatting to Viv I can see why she has taken this role in her stride. Viv has dedicated her time to BLS and spends much of her time promoting the BLS and if she does have spare time she enjoys reading JD Robs books, one of her favourite authors. Her primary responsibilities are fund raising and securing for sponsorship opportunities for the BLS and all monies made in the year are presented to their chosen charities. This year the charities are Operation Hope in Kuwait and CRY in the U.K.
