Tucked away in Kuwait City is a delightful find. An Indian restaurant that goes by the name of Lavan. Its unassuming from the outside, located on the corner of an old building, and you could miss it with the blink of an eye, but the food that awaits you inside is simply delicious.
The décor reminds me of small London bistro, intimate, simple, unassuming but has class and style, with rustic turquoise crockery and minimalist seating. With a seating capacity of no more than 50 (I’m guessing here), it was full when we went with a group of friends for Iftar last week. Even though the restaurant was full, the service was excellent, friendly, personable and attentive staff who understood their menu and could converse with us very well in English.
The menu was quite small, but the dishes available were delicious. I highly recommend the sweet potato chat, in fact I could of eaten that all night!
We also enjoyed the house biryani, that is presented within a bamboo dum, with a variety of alternatives available, for the vegetarian and meat eater alike. In addition we savoured the butter chicken, as well as some delicious, enormous shrimps!
Finishing off with melt in your mouth, traditional Gulab Jamun with Homemade Saffron Ice-Cream. The meal was fairly priced, and certainly worth every penny, we ate for 9KD a head and were a group of 10 ladies, we will certainly be visiting again!
