Arwa Mohammad Abulhasan is the first female from Kuwait to take part in the 2015 International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) organized byThe 2041 Organization.
Arwa participated in a 13-day expedition to Antarctica which began on March 13th, and was led and founded by Robert Swan, Order of the British Empire (OBE), and the first in the world to walk to both Poles.
The journey began in Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world. This windy and desolate outpost is tucked into the Beagle Channel and surrounded by peaks and glaciers. The group departed from Cape Horn and then journeyed through the Drake Passage. The journey cruised along spectacular ice shelves and followed whales feeding near the surface. Several islands were explored along the way and an overnight camping experience was also included in this adventure.
AAW provided Arwa with outdoor apparel and gear from Explorers Base, the company's multi-brand shop and Kuwait's leading one-stop-shop for all outdoors needs. Arwa received outdoor apparel and gear from The North Face and Patagonia, the world's best performing technical brands to help her in her expedition.
2041 was founded by polar explorer, environmental leader and public speaker Robert Swan, OBE, the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles. Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica by the promotion of recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.
