Kuwait Summer Officially Starts This Week

By Millie

This Thursday June 21 is set to be the longest day of the year in Kuwait, officially confirming the start of summer.

Also known as Summer Solstice, this Thursday we can expect around 14 hours, 1 minute and 40 seconds of daylight. The exact summer solstice will occur at 1.07pm, when Earth reaches the point in its orbit where the North Pole is angled closest to the sun.

After this, the days will gradually begin to get shorter – but only by a second or so to begin with.

So what does that mean for the temperatures?

Well, temperatures are already reaching above 46 degrees in some parts of Kuwait this week, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

There are already weather warnings issued for strong winds across Kuwait, and its only expected to get hotter, and not cooling down until September.
